Speed-up Windows: Turn off Indexing service.
You can boost the speed of you r Windows by disabling Windows’ Indexing service. This is a service that keeps a record of all files on your hard drive. It will give you much more speed boost on Vista. Go to Control panel and open Administrative Tools. Double click on Services and find Indexing Service. Double click on it. In the General tab find “Start up type” pull-down and select “Disabled” and click OK.
