Windows codec packs

Here is a list of Windows codec packs that wil help you to watch and listen media files on your PC.

DivX

This is a standard divx codec. It is a must for watching DivX media files. This DivX package includes both the codec and the divx player.

FFDShow

ffdshow is a set of DirectShow filters and VFW codec for video compression, decompression and processing and audio compression and processing.  You can play almost any movie using ffdshow.

K-Lite Codec Pack

The K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs and related tools.

The K-Lite Codec Pack is designed as a user-friendly solution for playing all your movie files. With the K-Lite Codec Pack you should be able to play 99% of all the movies found on your computer.

MUSK Codec Pack

A pack of codecs, including/understanding all that it is necessary to read all the findable videos on Internet and encoder in DivX 5 Pro, XviD, Real, QuickTime.

Codec

One of the most advanced codec pack, contains always the latest version of codecs to play popular multimedia format.



  1. Why can’t windows just buy the license to play all teh formats needed, life would be easier.

  2. “Why can’t windows just buy…” WTF are you talking about? Windows isn’t going to buy anything for you, it’s a piece of software. And in the event you meant Microsoft, sure, great, let them buy ever codec under the sun that NOT EVERYONE NEEDS and then pass the bill onto you, the user, who buys Windows. Yup, good operating premise. Or, you could just get off your lazy duff and download the packs and install them and stop whining.
